• Designed rack layouts and wrote and executed plans for move of critical systems to new CSUMB datacenter
•Responsible for the daily operations of a total of 140 servers running different versions of Unix and Windows
•Designed a Scalable DHCP solution that works in a distributed layer 3 network environment that includes 8 distribution centers serving addresses to users in 60 buildings.
•Redesigned campus DNS to allow for split DNS thus servicing public and private IP space. Built a total of 4 DNS servers running bind 9 on Linux OS
•Designed, implemented and documented HP EVA SAN that services the University main Email system and all departments file storage system including critical student information database
•Performed a major upgrade on the 6000 user First Class Email system that supports all staff, faculty and alumni.
•Redesigned a backup strategy for Email system to allow for easy restores and minimize backup windows.
•Worked on the implementation of HP Systems Insight Manager to allow the Campus to monitor and detect HP server hardware failures during and prior failures.
•Single handedly replaced the Residence Alcatel Core switch with a Cisco 4506 Core serving 12 residence hall buildings including the 1200 user cable modem network.
•Migrated multiple 802-11Q Vlan based DHCP servers to a relay based DHCP design which include failover.
•Implemented NetDisco an open source alternative to Cisco works and developed to monitor and report info on the campus switching and routing networks.
•Implemented “MRTG” a UNIX open Source tool to graph campus network bandwidth usage.
•Developed a user registration system for gathering network information to allow for network provisioning used in the residence halls as well during CSUMB wireless conferences
•Designed and deployed Cisco clean Access server solutions to authenticate all wireless networks deployed on campus.
•Managed 1200 cable modem user network on a Terayon hardware. Also I was part of the team that redesigned the CMTS to use a Cisco based solution.
•Tested and implemented clustered Barracuda Enterprise Spam firewall solution to help reduce campus SPAM and allow users to control their own mailboxes.
•Designed and build UNIX scripts to monitor dialup modem usage on Lucent postmaster hardware.
•Designed and documented online system to manage student Ethernet port activation and deactivation.
•Implemented Quality of Service solutions by using Packeteer Packet Shaper to protect against over usage of campus bandwidth by students
